President arrives in Pakistan

President Maithripala Sirisena today arrived in Pakistan for a three-day official visit, his first trip to the country after assuming the office in January.

Sirisena arrived in Karachi this afternoon and was greeted by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah at the airport. Later he flew to Islamabad.

Ministers Mangala Samaraweera, AH M Fowzia. Rishard Badduthin accompanied the president. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif greeted him at Islamabad airport.

The president will hold talks with President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Sharif on Monday. A number of memorandums of understanding/agreements of cooperation in various fields would be signed following the talks.
