Passenger held in Pakistan with heroin meant for Sri Lanka

Pakistan’s Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) has arrested a suspect for attempting to smuggle a large quantity of heroin into Sri Lanka.

ANF Karachi detained a passenger Najam-ul-Hassan, resident of Sialkot, at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi.

The passenger was found with 600 grams heroin concealed in his shoes. The accused was flying to Colombo via Bankok by SriLankan Airlines flight No.UL-184, the Daily Capital reported.

ANF in its drive against drug mafia, conducted as many as ten operations across the country and recovered 4.025 ton opium, 17.6 kg heroin and 81.6 Kg hashish.

ANF also arrested twelve drug traffickers including a Nigerian citizen and seized five vehicles during the operations.

The total value of recovered drugs approximately amounts to Rs. 5,742 million in international market. Most of the recovered drugs were destined abroad.
