Former Provincial Councilor Wimalaweera Dissanayake on Sunday (12) asserted that he will step down from his post as the Sri Lanka Freedom Party organiser for Ampara electoral district in protest over party’s conclusion to sack several members attached to its central committee.

The observation was at a press conference held in Ampara this afternoon.

Dissanayake added he has already tendered his resignation to party leadership.

Several parliamentarians including former Ministers S.M. Chandrasena, T.B. Ekanayake, Bandula Gunawardena and Salinda Dissanayake were removed from the central committee, on 11 April, following a directive issued by the President.
