Due to the prevailing weather condition, five spill gates of the Udawalawe Reservoir have to be kept open, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) said on Monday (13).

The DMC requests the general public living in riverbanks of Walawe River and Ambalanthota area to be cautious in this regard.

According to the DMC, the water level of the reservoir has gone up following the heavy rainfall reported in Bogala, Haldummulla, and Kalthota, areas which are catchment areas of the tank.
