Bishop meets Sri Lankan Tamils in Chennai

Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop, who is on a visit to India, has held talks with Sri Lankan Tamils living there and termed the meeting as “constructive”.

“Constructive discussion with senior Sri Lankan Tamils in Chennai”, she tweeted.

Prior to the meeting with Sri Lankan Tamils, Bishop inaugurated the Australia’s new consulate in Chennai today, as part of strengthening relations between the two nations.

The consulate is the first such facility in the Southern region after the one in Mumbai.
