At least 8 persons have been hospitalised due to injuries after a large tree collapsed on two houses at the Drayton Estate in Kotagala, Hatton.

An Ada Derana reporter said that heavy rainfall and strong winds prevailing in the area had resulted in a Banyan tree inside estate collapsing on the homes this morning.

The occupants of houses had suffered injuries in the incident and were admitted to the Kotagala Hospital. One of them has been transferred to the Nawalapitiya Hospital, he said.

One of the houses has been completely damaged by the incident while the other had sustained minor damages.
