India’s Congress Party says that the BJP-led NDA government should hold talks with the Sri Lankan government with regard to the fishermen problem in order to reach a solution.

A senior congress leader and former union minister Mani Shankar Aiyar on Sunday said it is a national issue and the Indian External Affairs Ministry should hold talks with Sri Lanka and the problem would be solved.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said in Parliament that the fishermen problem would be solved through talks "but there is no concrete action," he told reporters in Kumbakonam.
