FCID arrests Johnston Fernando

The Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) has arrested former Minister Johnston Fernando, a short while ago, the police Spokesperson said.


The FCID summoned the former Minister to record a statement over allegations of financial frauds against him, this morning (5). 


The Spokesperson added that the ex-Minister will be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate, in a short while. “The statement was recorded on alleged financial misappropriations in the Lanka Sathosa Ltd,” he said.
 

Fernando, who was the former Minister of Internal Trade and Cooperatives, was also called to appear before the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption to declare his assets on March 6.
