Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake says that a defamation case will be filed against the former President demanding Rs. 2000 million as compensation over an abusive statement he made (former President) concerning the Lankaputhra Development Bank at a recent event.

The observation was made at a press conference held in Colombo on Monday (11).

“The lawsuit will be filed over wrongful and false utterances. He charged that the bank misuses its powers when giving loan facilities,” the Minister added.
