No fuel price hike - Patali

May 11, 2015   05:04 pm

I say with completely responsibility that there will be neither fuel hike in the near future nor a fuel shortage, Power and Energy Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka said today. He also completely denied rumours that the Petroleum Corporation will be privatized.

Last few weeks saw many unfounded rumours such as the fuel price would be increased, there will be a fuel shortage and that the Petroleum Corporation will be privatized. These are completely untrue and are being spread by those who stand to gain due to their vested interest, Champika claimed.

At a press briefing the minister ridiculed the claim that the Petroleum Corporation will be privatized as it is making losses stating that it had turned a profit of Rs.  17 Billion in the last three months.
