Heroin worth over Rs.80 million recovered from Marawila

Over 8kgs of heroin with a street value of over Rs. 80 million has been recovered from Thoduwawa in Marawila, Police said a short while ago. The heroin in believed to have been smuggled from India into the country.

Based on information received by Police Narcotic Unit of Bandaranaike International Airport, a person who was attempting to smuggle heroin had been arrested from Thoduwawa in Marawila Police area on Monday (11) along with 08 kgs and 528 grams of heroin.

The raid had been conducted by a team of Police officers including the Officer in Charge, Chief Inspector Mr. H. R. A. Wije Bandara, Police Narcotic Unit at Bandaranaike International Airport.
