UPFA Western Provincial Councilor Nauzer Fowzie has been arrested by the Colombo Crimes Division after he surrendered over an alleged death threat.

The Colombo Chief Magistrate on Monday (11) ordered the police to arrest former Minister A. H. M. Fowzie’s son Nauzer Fowzie for allegedly threatening a businessman in 2012.

Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya issued the order following a B report filed by the Colombo Crime Division (CCD).

Meanwhile the former Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Sri Lanka Reconstruction and Development Agency (RADA), Saliya Wickramasuriya, who arrested over alleged fraud with tsunami housing funds, had been further remanded until May 19 by the Fort Magistrate.

 

(UPDATE) UPFA Western Provincial Councilor Nauzer Fowzie, who was arrested by the CCD for allegedly threatening a businessman at gunpoint, has been released on bail by the Colombo Fort Magistrate Court.

Fowzie was produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya, ordered his release on a cash bail of Rs 10,000 and two personal bails of 1 million.
