May 16, 2015   07:34 am

Trains on the main line have been delayed due to a collision involving the Anuradhapura-bound Yal Devi train and a container truck near Hunupitiya Railway Station.

However, no casualties have been reported from the incident, the railway control room said.

The truck driver had reportedly attempted to drive through just as the gates of the railway crossing was closing for the train to pass.

The collision has damaged the engine of the train while measures have been taken to rectify the matter and restore train services to normal.
