A 54-year-old man was killed following a wild elephant attack in the Thanthirimale area.

Police said he was riding a bicycle when he had come face to face with the elephant, also believed to be responsible for damaging a house in the area.

The victim was in critical condition upon being admitted to the Thanthirimale Hospital, however he succumbed to injuries shortly after, police said.
