A Sri Lankan national who attempted to smuggle gold worth over Rs 7.8 million into the country was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake this morning.

The suspect, a 49-year-old man from Dehiwala, had arrived in a flight from Sharjah while customs officers confiscated 1 kg and 562g of gold from his possession.
