The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) today informed the Colombo Magistrate’s Court that the three-wheeler which is believed to have been used in the assassination of the former TNA Parliamentarian Nadarajah Raviraj, has been located.

Colombo Additional Magistrate Nirosha Fernando approved necessary action required by the CID for further investigations into the vehicle.

The court also ordered that the 5 suspects arrested over the murder be further remanded June 19, when the case was taken up today.

In March, police arrested five navy personnel over the killing of Raviraj.

Raviraj, who represented the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) from Jaffna district, died in hospital after being shot by unidentified gunmen in Colombo on November 10, 2006.

He was shot as he left his house in Colombo for work. One of his guards, Sgt. Lakshman Lokuwella, was also killed in the attack.

Mr Raviraj, a former mayor of Jaffna and a lawyer by profession, had his own law firm: “Raviraj and Associates”. He was a native of Chavakachcheri in the Thenmaratchy sector of Jaffna.
