Report on Wilpattu resettlement presented to President

A report prepared by environmental organizations on the controversial issue of resettlement within the Wilpattu Sanctuary boundaries has been presented to President Maithripala Sirisena.

Addressing the gathering yesterday (June 5) at the Presidential Secretariat, President Sirisena assured that he would not let any person to damage the environment.

He added he would take the final decision on the resettlement in related areas after he gets the reports from parties appointed by him to inquire into this issue, the Presidential Media Unit said.

Maha sanga presided by Ven Athuraliye Rathana Thero, environmentalists led by Mr. Jagath Gunawardena (Attorney at Law), representatives of Jathika Sanga Sammelanaya, Pivithuru Hetak and other environmental organizations were among those participated at this event.
