Three dead after tipper truck-lorry collision

Three persons were killed following after a tipper truck ran over two pedestrians and crashed into a lorry at Ranwala, Kegalle on the Colombo-Kandy road.

Police said that the two pedestrians and the driver of the lorry died in the accident and that the lorry driver’s assistant has been admitted to the Kegalle Hospital with injuries.

The two pedestrians were reportedly at the middle of the road and the driver of the tripper truck had suddenly swerved to the right in an attempt to save the pedestrians, however he had eventually run over them and crashed into the lorry.

The incident has occurred at around 4.30am this morning.
