PM invites Mahinda to contest

I invite the former President to contest for the prime ministerial post at the forth coming general election in next August, Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe said.

The observation was made at a meeting held in Dambulla on Sunday (28).

“If he doesn’t contest that because he is afraid to do so. I invite him to contest at the election for the PM post,” he added.

However, a source close to the former government said that a final decision on whether former President Mahinda Rajapaksa would contest at the forthcoming general election or not will likely be announced by Tuesday.
