Strong winds up to 50-60 kmph - Met Dept.

The weather forecast issued by the Met Dept. today at 12 noon says that there will be several spells of showers in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Northwestern and Central provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.
 

Also thundershowers may develop at a few places in the Eastern and Uva provinces during the afternoon or evening. Strong winds (up to 50-60 kmph) can be expected over the country (particularly over hill areas) and surrounding sea areas at times.


The sea area extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Kankesanthurai and the sea area extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota will be rough at times as the winds can strengthen up to 60 kmph at times.  The other sea areasaround the island will be fairly rough at times as the winds can strengthen up to 50 kmph at times, says the Met Dept. in its 12noon weather forecast.
