UPFA Western Provincial Council member Thushara Perera has been arrested for allegedly threatening a three-wheeler driver with a firearm, police said.

The Katunayake Airport Police had received a complaint alleging that the Provincial Councillor had pointed a revolver at the three-wheeler driver and threatened him in connection with a traffic accident.

As a result of the complaint, Airport Police searched the politician’s vehicle and recovered a firearm from inside it. Perera was subsequently arrested by police this afternoon, the Police Media Unit said.
