The Chilaw Mayor, Hilary Prasanna Fernando, on Thursday (09) said that he will extend his support to the United National Party at the forthcoming General Election.

Fernando said that he will also contest under the UNP ticket at the August polls. “A discussion will be held with the party leaders on the further steps,” he added.

The Chilaw Mayor, who earlier contested under the United People’s Freedom Party (UPFA) ticket, received the highest number of preferential votes at the last Provincial Council election.
