MoU of ‘Good Governance’ alliance to be inked tomorrow

The singing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the formation of the “United National Front for Good Governance,” which is to contest the upcoming General Election under the UNP’s “Elephant” symbol, is to take place on Sunday (12).

The singing of the MoU will take place at 10.00am tomorrow at Temple Trees, reliable sources told Ada Derana. 

The United National Party (UNP) today approved the new political alliance at the party’s special convention held at Campbell Park in Borella.

Ada Derana reported yesterday that a new political alliance led by the UNP, under the name of “United National Front for Good Governance,” is to contest the parliamentary election on August 17 with sections of the SLFP and JHU. 

Several prominent figures of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) who had not signed UPFA nominations, the Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) which was recently rebranded as the United National Front for Good Governance, several civil society organisations as well as certain left-leaning parties are set to join under the UNP’s “elephant” symbol.
