Hirunika to contest under ‘elephant’ symbol

UPFA Western Provincial Council member Hirunika Premachandra has reportedly signed nominations to contest the upcoming parliamentary election from the United National Front for Good Governance, the UNP-led political alliance.

She will contest the General Election under the “elephant” symbol from the Colombo Electoral District.

The United National Front for Good Governance today received approval at the UNP’s special convention held in Colombo. 

Several other prominent figures in the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), who had not signed UPFA nominations, such as Ministers Rajitha Senaratna and Arjuna Ranatunga are expected to contest as the United National Front for Good Governance.

Several other parties including the Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) as well as a number of civil society group are expected to join the new alliance.
