President’s remarks disadvantage to the party, says Tennakoon

Former Minister Janaka Bandara Tennakoon says that he is so concerned with the remarks that had been made by the President at a press conference held in Colombo this afternoon (14).

Tennakoon added that the observations, which were made by President Maithripala Sirisena, would be a disadvantage for the party ahead of the August election.

I was of the view that nominations should not be given to the former President to contest under the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) ticket at the forthcoming General Election, President Maithripala Sirisena said at the press conference. “I totally disagreed with the party’s decision to grant nominations to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa. However, he will be defeated at the election, as how he was defeated at the last presidential election,” the President said.
