A meeting of the UPFA party leaders was held at the Opposition Leader’s Office this morning while polls and the problems of the constituent parties of the alliance had been extensively discussed at the gathering.

The UPFA leaders had stated that Elections Commissioner should be briefed regarding the continuous violations of election laws by the government.

Meanwhile the General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Anura Priyadarshana Yapa has requested President Maithripala Sirisena to convene a meeting of the party’s Central Committee.

Yapa stated that he notified the President regarding a request he received from representatives of the Central Committee.

However, the President has still not responded to the request, he added.
