Prasanna Ranatunga, wife arrives at FCID

July 20, 2015   09:49 am

Western Province Chief Minister Prasanna Ranatunga and his wife arrived at the FCID a short while ago to give a statement over an alleged financial malpractice connected to a land deal.

Earlier, the Fort Magistrate granted bail to the Chief Minister and his wife in connection with a case filed against them over the irregular land deal.

The case has been filed for their alleged involvement in obtaining a sum of Rs 5 million to fill and develop a land in the Wellampitiya area as well as to remove the unauthorized occupants of the property.

The police investigation, in this regard, was initiated after a businessman lodged a complaint with the FCID alleging that the sum has been deposited into a bank account belonging to the Chief Minister’s wife.
