The former President on Monday (20) charged that the new government has done nothing to further construct the Katunayake expressway though it obtained loans for the development of the project.

“The government has obtained loans for the project,” he said, adding that however he does not see at least a sign that they have any intention to continue the project.

The observation was made at a political gathering held in Thalangama this morning.

“I don’t know what exactly happened to this money. The loans that the new government obtained in 100-days time exceeds the amount what we applied in year 2014,” Mahinda Rajapaksa said.

He also went into say the only relief that the new government granted for the people was its decision to reduce the prices of coriander. “Later, they increased the prices of coriander as well,” he added.

Rajapaksa also pointed out that former Minister and his brother, Basil Rajapaksa, was arrested owing to his effort to provide 1.4 million Samurdhi beneficiary families each with Rs. 2,500, but not for any other reason.
