CID pursuing top military officers - Nalaka Thero

August 6, 2015   06:17 pm

Ven. Bengamuwe Nalaka Thero says that presently the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is chasing after high-ranking military officers who helped save the country and that the Defence Secretary is aware of it.

He says that top brass of the security forces are disappointed by this situation and that former President Mahinda Rajapaksa should once again be the ruler of the country in order to prevent its descent into the abyss again.

The Thero claims that votes cast for Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and the United National Party (UNP) will instigate a division in the country and that voting for Rajapaksa and the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) would help save the country.

Dr Gunadasa Amarasekara, also addressing the press conference in Colombo today, said that certain groups are attempting to create a “false fear” that Sri Lanka would be isolated by the international community if Rajapaksa comes back to power.

He said that the former President followed a non-aligned foreign policy and that he would continue to safeguard the independence of the country in the future.
