Two murdured over water dispute in Medirigiriya

Two persons have been murdered at a field in the Godapotta area in Medirigiriya, over a dispute when obtaining water for farming, police said.

The victims, a 30-year-old and 46-year-old from Medirigiriya, were murdered last night while a 62-year-old man from the same area has been arrested in connection with the incindet.

Police have also recovered the weapon used to commit the murders. 

The Magistrate’s Inquiry into the incident is to be carried out today while Medirigiriya Police is conducting further investigations.
