Water supply has been suspended to the Colombo Municipal Council, Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte Municipal Council, Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia Municipal Council areas due to an oil contamination affecting the Kelani River.

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWS&DB) stated that the water supply from the Ambatale Water Treatment Plant to several other areas has been limited due to this reason.

The water supply to the aforementioned areas will be restored once the water in the Kelani River returns to normal, the water board said.
