Under the current political climate, there might be an opposition party within the opposition, former Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara says. He made the observation during the first sitting of the Eighth Parliament this morning (1).

Nanayakkara also went into say that he and his associates would not back the National Government.

The Leader of the JVP Anura Kumara Dissanayake said he is of the view that the new Parliament would take measures to address the ‘real’ issues faced by the general public.

“More needs to be done in ensuring and protecting the rights of the citizens and the new Parliament should take the responsibility to achieve this goal,” he added.
