A woman traveling in a car and the driver of the vehicle have been hospitalised following an acid attack on the Panamura road in Embilipitiya.

Police said that the two victims were admitted to the Embilipitiya Hospital with critical injuries.

Embilipitiya Police is conducting an investigation into the attack, however it has been reported that a complaint had been lodged with Ambalantota Police yesterday alleging that the woman who was subject to the acid attack had been abducted.

Although police attempted to record a statement regarding the complaint, they have been unable to do so due to the severity of the injuries sustained by both victims.
