Galle-Matara Expressway closed at 114km post

October 2, 2015   07:53 am

The Galle-Matara stretch of the Southern Expressway has been temporarily closed again from the 114km post due to the risk of earth slips, the Road Development Authority (RDA) said today.

The section between Kokmaduwa and Imaduwa was initially closed last night and reopened at around 6.30am this morning.

However, due to the prevailing inclement weather condition in the areas authorities had decided to close the expressway once again.

The Disaster Management Center (DMC) yesterday urged motorists using the Southern Expressway to remain cautious due to the risk of an earthslip near the 114km post.
