Private bank robbed in Dambulla

An individual has robbed over Rs.790,000 rupees from a private bank in Dambulla, a short while ago on Tuesday morning (13), the police say.


The suspect had entered the bank with a hand grenade in his possession, a police officer said.


The suspect had also reportedly taken a hostage when he was leaving the bank premises. However, the hostage was later released unharmed, the officer added.


The Dambulla police are conducting further investigations.
