Suspected underworld figure gunned down in Wellampitiya

A 47-year-old man was killed following a shooting incident which took place on Gothami Mawatha in Welewatta, Wellampitiya.

Police suspect that the victim of last night’s shooting, Kalapullewatte Chandra, is an underworld figure and that the incident was gang related. 

The victim had succumbed to injuries after being admitted to hospital while his body is currently placed at the Colombo National Hospital, police said.
