Nightclub owner hacked to death in Anuradapura

A Karate champion and an owner of a nightclub in Anuradapura has been hacked to death by an unidentified group of people, the police say.


The incident occurred at the night club down Muditha Street in Anuradhapura at around 11.45 last night.


The group of about 20 masked men who entered the night club had killed its owner by assaulting him with clubs and sharp objects, according to the police.


The 57-year-old victim succumbed to his injuries after admitting to the Anuradhapura Teaching hospital. Three employees at the night club have also been admitted to the same hospital, following the attack, the police added.


The Anuradapura police are conducting further investigations. The remains of the deceased have been kept at the Anuradhapura hospital pending a post-mortem.
