PVS: Call for Application from young film and video makers

Since good old days, storytelling has a unique strength to engage people. With the revolution in the field of media and communication, Participatory Video Storytelling (PVS) has become a globally known potential tool to empower disadvantaged by encouraging them to film their own stories. This process of PVS involves participants learning filming skills, engaging in a participatory planning, discussing and developing narratives for their stories. 

Giving these due considerations, the SDJF has pleasure in announcing its forthcoming projects on PVS. The objective of the projects is to build the capacity of youths on PVS as a potential tool to portray the stories of the disadvantaged which will eventually propel their stories into a new course of action.

Candidates between 18-30 are eligible to apply for these programmes. The training will be conducted both in Sinhala and Tamil by trainers from Sri Lanka and abroad. At the end of the workshop, participants would have cultivated the needed skills on PVS and they will be awardedcertificates.

As the workshop is free of charge for all participants, intake of entrantsis very limited. For the projects in Matara and Kandy, candidates from those districts will be given priority whereas for the third project undergraduates, graduates, media students and social activists from all parts of the Island could take part. 

Applications received after 15/10/2015 will be automatically rejected. Interested candidates could apply throughinfo@Ldjf.orgalong with their CV and a cover letter stating their interest in PVS.
