Premalal Jayasekara released on bail

UPFA Ratnapura Disctrict MP Premalal Jayasekara who was arrested on January 10 in connection with the fatal shooting incident in Kahawatta has been released on bail.

 

On January 5, the Pelmadulla Magistrate issued an arrest warrant on Jayasekara and several local politicians over their alleged involvement in the shooting incident at a venue of an election rally of then Opposition Common Candidate Maithripala Sirisena in Kahawatta, Ratnapura.

 

A political supporter, who was engaged in decorating the election stage, was wounded in the shooting and succumbed to injuries in hospital on January 8.
