Gnanasara Thero hospitalised

The General Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) organization, Ven. Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero, who was arrested and remanded over contempt of court, has been admitted to the prison hospital. 

The Venerable Thero had informed relevant authorities that his blood pressure has increases and requested that it be checked. Therefore he was admitted to the hospital and underwent an electrocardiogram (ECG), prisons spokesman M.H.T.N. Upuldeniya said. 

However, he said, that he believes that the Buddhist monk would be discharged tomorrow (28).

The Homagama Magistrate’s Court remanded Ven. Gnanasara Thera until 09 February after he surrendered to the Homagama police on Tuesday (26). 

A warrant was issued by the Homagama Magistrate’s Court for the arrest of Gnanasara Thero on charges of allegedly threatening Sandhya Eknaligoda, the wife of missing journalist Prageeth Eknaligoda, at the court premises.

Sandhya Eknaligoda had arrived at the premises for the hearing into the Habeas Corpus case in connection with the disappearance of her husband.
