Southern Province CM released on bail

Chief Minister of Southern Province Shan Wijayalal de Silva has been released on bail by the the Galle Magistrate’s Court today, Ada Derana reporter said. 


A warrant had been issued by Magistrate Nilupuli Lankapura for the arrest of the Chief Minister as he failed to appear before the court in connection with an election violation case.


An Attorney-at-Law who appeared on behalf of the Chief Minister apprised the Magistrate that his client was on an overseas tour. The case against Wijayalal was filed by the police for allegedly threatening a group of postal voters during the last Presidential election.
