Uproar in Parliament as Joint Opposition demand to be independent

February 9, 2016   03:01 pm

A group of MPs representing the “Joint Opposition” are currently staging a protest within the Parliament chamber demanding that they be recognized as independent MPs in Parliament.

However, the Speaker of Parliament is proceeding with the agenda of the session as per usual ignoring the uproar being created by the group of MPs.

The MPs of the so called Joint Opposition had requested that they be recognized as independent MPs, however Speaker Karu Jayasuriya had said that the issue should be resolved within the UPFA as he cannot intervene.
