Child molestation suspect attempts suicide in police station cell

A suspect arrested in connection with child molestation case has been hospitalized after he reportedly attempted commit suicide inside a prison cell at the Ambalantota Police Station.
The 48-year-old married man was arrested by Ambalantota Police last evening in the Mamadala area for allegedly molesting the 13-year-old daughter of his clandestine lover.
The suspect had attempted to hang himself this morning using a sarong inside the prison cell he was detained in at the police station, Ada Derana reported said.
He has been admitted to the Hambantota Hospital.
