Public urged to use electricity sparingly

February 26, 2016   05:40 pm

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) today requested the public to switch off non essential electrical equipment between 6.30 pm and 10.30 pm until the Norochcholai power plant is fully operational.

A sudden island-wide power outage yesterday (25) had reportedly caused a breakdown at the coal power plant in Norochcholai.

The CEB had said that a possible lightning strike on a transmission line is believed to have caused the power cut.
