As directed by the Ministry of Defence to the request made by Financial Crime Investigation Division (FCID), the Sri Lanka Navy has suspended Lieutenant Yoshitha Rajapaksa from exercise of naval service.

Navy spokesperson Capt Akram Alavi said that the service of Yoshitha has been suspended with effect from February 28, in order to keep the ongoing FCID investigations independent, as currently charges are being framed in the courts.

“He will be deprived of his pay and allowances with immediate effect as per the 1982 Navy Pay Code, which was revised on 13th January 1998 by a Special Gazette Notification numbering 1010/1. Further he will not be permitted entry into any naval premises without the approval of NHQ,” he added.
