Three children killed in Welmilla accident

Three children  were killed following an accident involving a tipper-truck and a three-wheeler near Welmilla along the Bandaragama - Kesbewa road, the police said.

 

 

The deceased, two boys and a girl,  have been identified as residents of Athurugiriya, according to the police.

 

 

The accident occurred on Monday afternoon after the overloaded trishaw had collided head on with the tipper, the police said.

 

 

Four persons who sustained injuries have also been admitted to the Bandaragama hospital. The remains of the deceased are deposited at the same hospital.

 

 

The police have arrested the tipper driver. He will be produced before the Magistrate tomorrow.
