Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris has instructed the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to expedite investigations into the death of Sri Lankan rugby player Wasim Thajudeen.

When the case was taken up today (23), Senior State Counsel Dilan Rathnayake requested from the court for 2 more months to conclude investigations.

He informed court that although video footage obtained from roadside CCTV cameras were examined in connection with the incident, it did not result in considerable progress to the investigations.

After considering the facts presented, the additional magistrate decided to postpone the case till May 12 and also ordered to submit a report on the progress of the investigations on the said date.
