In a bid to prevent Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) from splitting, measures will be taken to hold the next Local Government election without any delay, Local Government and Provincial Councils Minister Faizer Mustapha says.

Faizer Mustapha also dismissed allegations raised by several political parties in this regard as well.

“However, it’s my responsibility as the Local Government and Provincial Councils Minister to safeguard the democracy of the people, but not to just safeguard my party,” he added.

He pointed out that the election will be held after polls related issued are sorted out by the Delimitation Commission.
