IP Sumith Perera remanded until May 5

Former Crime OIC of the Narahenpita police Sumith Perera, who was arrested for allegedly hiding evidence in the murder of Wasim Thajudeen, has been remanded until May 5.


The suspect was remanded after being produced before the Colombo Additional Magistrate by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Ada Derana reporter said.


Earlier, Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris instructed the CID to expedite investigations into the death of the Sri Lankan rugby player.


Thajudeen was found dead on May 17, 2012 inside his car which appeared to have crashed into a wall in Kirulapone.
