Anura Senanayake remanded until May 26

Former Senior DIG Anura Senanayake, who was arrested for allegedly withholding evidences in the murder case of national Rugby player Wasim Thajudeen, has been remanded until May 26.


The suspect was remanded after being produced before Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris this afternoon.


The CID officials interrogated Anura Senanayake for few hours before the arrest was made, it was reported. Earlier, former Crime OIC of the Narahenpita police Sumith Perera was arrested for allegedly hiding evidence in the case as well.   The Colombo Additional Magistrate had too instructed the CID to expedite investigations into the death of the Sri Lankan rugby player, whose body was found on May 17, 2012 inside his car which appeared to have crashed into a wall in Kirulapone.
